Ive been using flash for my animation for a while now and was wanting to try other software mainly to make better anime but i have no idea what the proffesionals use help me

The following reply is by : Dean B :
Hand drawn, most japanes anime is, especially studio ghibli stuff.
over theire workers are cheap, software isnt.
Falsh is a pretty decent tool for the average user, though cartoons like Simpson’s use Toonboom, and Futurama uses a in-house software to do the 3d cell shading affects.

Not so sure. But you could try out Animation Shop 5. It’s a great program. Also, Fireworks MX is good too.

Most 2d animation are still start off as pencil drawings drawn on paper, then scanned into a computer. Toonz (Studio Ghibli), Animo (various), toon boom (various), RETASpro . However, with the exception of toon boom, they are very expensive.

Some applications that interested me was FrameToon (japanse company, docs are in japanese they also make OpenCanvas), tvpaint (french company, but with english docs)… and, actually, I found this link of software I was going to mention (see below, titled “list of software.”) I personally liked using CTP — it looks like they still exist, which suprised me.
